hey ppl , sorry i haven updated for a long time .
I lost my mechanical pencil. I have been tolerating the pencil lead breaks from secondary school becos it has been very dear to me. Sigh , i lost it right after building materials lab i guess. My leads are also broken. My 20 highlighters have no ink.
=)) now the good news, i've replaced all 3 of them!!! i got a frozen pencil that has a good grip and the lead does not break that often, I got a baby blue highlighter that does not spill excess ink all over and i got my pencil leads =))
Life has to go on i guess. sorry pencil. If u r still around somewhere , u will be glad to know that after all the new functions my pencil has, I still miss and cherish u i guess.I'm really sorry for my absentmindedness.
I've been feeling very hungry nowades. Playing games has been a source of stress relieve for me. It's no wonder nearing the exams, I play more.
So many reports. so little time.

Libing sent me postcard,letter, and 2 photos, which i received today. I feel really very touched and honored.
In the postcard , there is a poem by Lisa Pelzer Vetter :

Been limping for 2 days becos of a leg cramp already . anyone knows how to alleviate it ?

The researchers placed simulated buildings within the parks and also at certain distances away. Computerised tabulated findings revealed that a building located 100m from the park would generate 9% savings in energy required to bring temperature down as compared to one which is 400m away. For buildings within the parks, energy consumption is cut down by up to 10%.The team is also working with Jurong Town Corporation to look at how by appropriately introducing vegetation in industrial estates can help lower temperature. "Using the wind tunnel at our department, we experimented with models of buildings to see how for example, tower blocks can help in creating air movement. We also studied the optimal gap between buildings as well as the height. Wind is a complex phenomenon," said Associate Professor Wong.The study, in collaboration with the Building and Construction Authority and Centre for Total Building Performance (NUS) was started in 2001 and completed in 2004. "For the study, we first needed an overall island temperature profile," said Associate Professor Wong. "So we worked with the NUS Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) to obtain satellite images of Singapore for a temperature profile. From the images, we found that the western side of Singapore around the industrial area of Tuas has the highest ambient temperature, of around 33.6 degrees Centigrade. The Central Business District also has quite high temperature, as well as Changi Airport. The lowest temperature is along the north-western part of Singapore near Tengah and the central water catchment area."

We heard of meliodosis -- caused by bacteria in the soil which enters the body through cuts or wounds – a disease which could be deadly. But the soil also yields "healing" bacteria.
One gramme of soil was mixed with three millilitres of sterile water and shaken gently for three minutes. Small quantity of this mixture was inoculated onto a thin layer of agar in a Petri dish. The culture was left to grow for four days at 28 degrees Centigrade."When we found that the actinomycetes were actually working to inhibit the growth of the Bacillus, we know we were on the right track," said Associate Professor Nga.

Recently, Dr Wang and team did a study on "knock-in" mice – this time, the protein was introduced into the mice models. A liver specific cancer-causing agent was also introduced. The number and size of tumours were significantly smaller compared to a control group of mice subjected to the same cancer-causing agent.A patient can be hooked to a bioartificial liver (BAL) while waiting for a liver transplant or for his liver to recover. Using C/EBPa-enriched pig liver cells in the BAL device could reduce the risk of patients being exposed to tumour-promoting substances during treatment.
